September is College Access Month across the state of Tennessee. September 26th-29th is College Access Week. On Thursday, September 29th, wear your favorite College T-shirt.
Picture re-takes will be Friday, October 21st. This will be for students that were absent on picture day or are new to the school, as well as Boys BB, Girls BB, Cross Country, and Color Guard. Parents who want to purchase picture packages will have to prepay. Order forms and money will be given to the photographer the day of. If you have multiple children at the school, please use a separate order form and separate the payments for each child.

There will be an informational meeting Thursday, August 25th at 6:00 p.m. at MMS in the auditorium about Destination Imagination. This is open to grades K-12. Anyone interested in learning more about the program is encouraged to attend.

We are looking for ALL students and parents to participate in our yearly fall fundraiser.
Even if you only sell or purchase 1 item, it REALLY helps our school!
What this fundraiser helps cover are OTHER expenses such as technology/computer equipment and upgrades, teacher supplies, gym equipment, and so much more.
We receive very little or no funding for those items.
If EVERYONE would TRY to just hit a “6 item goal” or make a DONATION,
we could take care of our fundraising needs!
Once again, we still will offer ONLINE ordering this year. It is super easy to do!
As always, we have a very exciting Prize Program that the students LOVE plus a TON of giveaways while our sale is going on!
Our goal is 100% participation. It is critical that all parents and students try to help so it is a team effort and we are not relying on a small percent of the students supporting the entire school.

PICTURE DAY
2022 Picture Day for all students and all fall sports will be August 19th.

Food Service Update: During the height of the pandemic the federal government allowed all students to eat free of charge. Congress did not extend that benefit for our new school year. Students may still qualify, but will be required to fill out a free/ reduced application form. Applications can be filled out online at schoolcafe.com/milanssd or a paper copy will be available at each of the schools. Only one application per family is needed.
Lunch prices for the 2022/2023 school year will be $2.75 for MMS and MHS students and $2.50 for MES. Breakfast will remain free of charge.
Registration for the 2022-2023 school year is open for all returning and new students.
Milan High School is excited to announce Taylor Schubert as our new head softball coach.
Coach Schubert brings a command of the game and strong work ethic to MHS. Her experience at the collegiate level will allow her to provide insight to those players looking to play at the next level. We look forward to her tenure at Milan High School.
Softball tryouts will be Monday, June 20th 6-8PM at the City Park.
Softball kids camp will be July 12-15 8:30-11:30AM at the City Park.

When you train and teach someone for their next steps at #MilanCTE, they become yours. When you have multiple “yours”, sometimes you are kneecapped with the time to help them all. But wanting the best for them doesn’t stop with the diploma. Christina McKnight is an MHS 2022 graduate that reached out this month with a request for a better job with a company that would help support her goals and dreams. Say no more. Props to our industry partner, Patrick McHale and the staff of NHC Healthcare. He saw the dynamic potential in this kid and said YES.
Christina had some government type paperwork that needed to be handled so that she could take the next steps towards self sufficiency. This teacher had 4 nursing shifts scheduled and was panicked. I was helpless as I was budgeted out in my time.
Enter Kimberly Hudgins and the Innovative High School Grant-GCSSD, TSSD and MSSD. We gained her through our Work Coach position created by this grant and she has proven irreplaceable. Kim has taken Christina all over this side of the state to gather paperwork and help her gain needed documents to start work, and get this permit. Kim didn’t flinch-she just dug in and made phone calls, and set appointments. She went above and beyond.
