Spotlight on Creative Dramatics
Each six weeks, students will participate in class for a week of activities based on the Tennessee state standards for theatre in the Fine Arts.
This first six weeks, Fifth Graders will participate in a week of learning lots about the world of theatre. We will practice vocal warm-ups and body warm-ups everyday as we prepare to participate in team building skills to become a cast member. We will read mini-scripts and learn theatre vocabulary.
Sixth graders will be working on learning about the Greek theatre and why they used various types of masks. We will create comedy and tragedy masks as we prepare to present mini-scripts and build character by reading monologues. We will continue to work on articulation practice.
This six weeks, the seventh graders will have the opportunity to build on the skills for the past several years. We will review the Greek theatre and the masks that they created. We will create our own and then be ready to present various mini plays as we work in groups. We will continue to work on presentation skills using articulation and movement.
This first six weeks offers a potpourri of skills learned in creative dramatics from monologues to plays that will involve cast work. Casts will work on articulation and movement for these presentations.
